From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. A religion is a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, especially when considered as the creation of a supernatural agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs. Aspects of religion include narrative, symbolism, beliefs, and practices that are supposed to give meaning to the practitioner's experiences of life. Whether the meaning centers on a deity or deities, or an ultimate truth, religion is commonly identified by the practitioner's prayer, ritual, meditation, music and art, among other things, and is often interwoven with society and politics. It may focus on specific supernatural, metaphysical, and moral claims about reality (the cosmos and human nature) which may yield a set of religious laws and ethics and a particular lifestyle. Religion also encompasses ancestral or cultural traditions, writings, history, and mythology, as well as personal faith and religious experience. The term "religion" refers both to the personal practices related to communal faith and to group rituals and communication stemming from shared conviction. "Religion" is sometimes used interchangeably with "faith" or "belief system," but it is more socially defined than personal convictions, and it entails specific behaviors, respectively. Q. I would say Islam, because aside from those who do not obey Islam, it is a very peaceful religion. Asked by rita - Sun May 31 04:30:06 2009 - - 22 Answers - 0 Comments A. I would say Buddhism. Because until now, Buddhism has the lowest number of deaths due to it. Besides that, it does not actually care if you pray to a God, but rather it teaches you the importance of being detached from neediness. - Islam might be a peaceful religion in essence, but due to the alarming number of people who claim to commit killings in the name of Islam, Islam cannot be considered totally peaceful. Nor tolerant as it does preaches against believing in other religions. - Christianity is by far the most violent and intolerant religion ever recorded. The very book they worship contains more killings than the WWII massacres. Answered by Eccentric Entity - Sun May 31 04:41:37 2009 Is Islam a religion or is it a cultural and political movement? Q. I have been reading "Islam for Dummies", and on page 15 it says, "Islam isn't just a religion of individuals bound together for spiritual pursuits and guidance. Instead, Islam attempts to organize all aspects of human society." The United States constitution guarantees freedom of religion but forbids the establishment of religion. Islam, it seems, can only be fully realized if it is the established religion. Can Muslims live happily and successfully in a state which denies full expression of their religion? Asked by Fred Bauder - Wed Jan 20 15:50:04 2010 - - 15 Answers - 0 Comments A. The book is kind of right. Islam really is 'a complete way of life.' The definition of Islam means submission to the will of Allah(by the way, Allah is really just the Arabic word for the one true God. Just that in Arabic, the word ''Allah'' has no plural or gender, so that's why we use it. In Islam, polytheism or attributing partners to Allah is the WORST sin, it's Unforgivable, unless if you've just converted to Islam[which would erase all your previous sins]) --->back to the question... Yeah, so in Islam, there is like a way to do practically anything. From putting on your shoes, to praying at the right times, and even cutting your nails... But you also need to know that us Muslims are commanded to follow a middle path.
