You are maintaining a small population of fruit flies in the laboratory by transferring the flies to a new cu?
Q. You are maintaining a small population of fruit flies in the laboratory by transferring the flies to a new culture bottle after each generation. After several generations, you notice that the viability of the flies has decreased greatly. Recognizing that small population size is likely to be linked to decreased viability, the best way to reverse this trend is to A)cross your flies with flies from another lab. B)reduce the number of flies that you transfer at each generation. C)transfer only the largest flies. D)change the temperature at which you rear the flies. E)shock the flies with a brief treatment of heat or cold to make them more hardy.

What is the population necessary to open a Chic Fila in a town?
Q. I have heard that you have to have a certain population in a town in order to bring in the Chic Fi-la franchise in certain towns. Does anyone know what that amount is?
Asked by Rachel - Thu Oct 15 14:28:31 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The target audience of Chic Fil a is different than the fast food giants, which typically target teens and children, so they tend to avoid the usual fast food locations to build its restaurants. Instead, Chic Fil a targets educated, higher-income adults, thus they choose to operate in busy suburban malls and neighborhoods with a high concentration of its target customers. They promote their product, the chicken sandwich, as a healthy alternative to hamburgers; therefore, they have their own unique nich market.

How do I convert population density from square meters to square kilometers?
Q. I have population density of 0.018374 for every square meter. I want this in square kilometers. How do I do it?
Asked by blah - Fri Aug 7 02:12:40 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. you're given: 0.018374 / sq m. your target: ? / sq km in order to convert this, get the relation between sq m and sq km. a sq m is the area of a square whose sides are 1 meter each, while a sq km is a square whose sides are 1 km each. there are 1000 m in 1 km. there will be: 1 sq km = 1 km x 1 km = 1000 m x 1000 m = 1,000,000 sq m therefore, there are 1,000,000 sq m in 1 sq km. multiplying it to your given: 0.018374 / sq m = (0.018374 / sq m) x ( 1,000,000 sq m / 1 sq km) = 18,734 / sq km
